“And see that all these things are done in wisdom and in order; for it is not...”
–  Mosiah 4:27 This is my favorite scripture. It was highlighted in the copy of The Book of Mormon that Ben gave me (the one that we each read at different times in our lives as we were converted to this great faith). It was one of the first verses I ever read (on the very first night that the book...

I have the Gospel Library mobile app produced by the Church. It has just about everything you could ever want or need as far as scriptures, magazines, manuals, and that sort of thing are concerned. It’s crazy how much material you can download instantly for free with this app. I highly recommend it. My only complaint is that you can only take notes in the scriptures, whereas with another...

And now, tumblrsabbathshare has a companion: tumblrinstitute. Each week, please feel free to post about what you’re studying in your Institute classes. Posts might include general topics of study, descriptions of your awesome courses,...

Proverbs 31 →
lifeisbyutiful: “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” - Proverbs 31:10 A wonderful verse, yes—but have you read the rest of the chapter? Love. The woman of Proverbs 31 is kind, charitable, faithful, strong, responsible, perseverant, brave, wise and ultimately self-reliant, and it is the sum of all these traits that make her so virtuous.

Ouch.
School starts next month and whether or not I’ll actually be a student is still in question. I just looked at my book list though, in a moment of hopefulness. As of now, I’d be spending about $100 on books… and the only books I have to buy are Bibles (three or four different ones). That seems like a wee bit much. (I’m taking a course on the Old Testament and for some...

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. 4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye...

I just realized that it’s probably been over six months since anyone has called me fat. (One of my ex-boyfriend’s favorite nicknames for me was “Fatty Pancakes.”)  I thank Heavenly Father every single day for someone [Benjamin] who treats me better than I ever could have asked. :’)

Benjamin got set apart today as Sacrament coordinator. That’s such an important calling and I’m so proud of him! It was a little bit odd though… Our branch president invited me into his office for the setting apart. It’s generally a very private and personal thing (it’s a blessing) so… what? Ben and I were both really surprised (though not in a bad way).  I...

A Bit of Light Reading
My public library’s online card catalog has a category called “Book of Mormon Fiction” and it’s top result is Mother Goose. Maybe it’s because I’m a relatively recent convert buuuuuut… what? Am I missing something?  Anyway, I was looking for this: Tennis Shoes among the Nephites and they have it, which surprised me a little bit. (I’m learning that I...

As a kid, I was kind of bummed that my birthday was in the summer because I could never bring treats to school for my birthday. So today I took cookies to my Institute class. <3 (Dreams really do come true!) And on top of that, the Elders are coming over for my birthday dinner! (They will be wearing those pointy party hats.) :D

mormonmemnoch: I have had a realization. It’s the same one that I had when I was the recipient of some hard-to-swallow truth a few years ago. I just stopped the cutting. That was the day everything changed. It can be done, but people have to have the same realization. Today was an “Edison” day for me. I did not find my eureka, but I did not fail. Soon I will be able to say that I dropped this...

What? Thanks, but, no thanks. The next step is printing the Bible in “txt spk lol.” No me gusta. I’ll take my King James Version, as it is, already correctly translated, thank you very much.  Example: King James Version: And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the...

I can’t make myself mark my scriptures. I have this thing about writing books: I can’t do it. I treasure them. They, especially the scriptures, are sacred. I digitally highlight them in the scripture apps on my phone (categorized by color) and I’ll probably transfer that online soon. I keep lists of scriptures and things that I really like. But I can’t make myself...

The other night at the grocery store I bought a baker’s dozen donughts (13 of them). As soon as we got back to my apartment Ben announced that he was making a rule: before each donut could be eaten, the eater must recite one of the 13 Articles of Faith. Hah. He doesn’t understand when I say he’ll be a good father one day. ;P

These things shouldn't surprise me anymore.
Saturday night I talked to Ben about me maybe going on a mission. Later on I posted here about it although I didn’t go into detail like I did with him. That night was the first time I’d mentioned it to anyone. Sunday in sacrament meeting, this first talk was largely about how a sister was able to lose herself in her mission and find herself through it and how much this improved her...

kaymckenzie: abcjen: There’s nothing more beautiful than seeing that strong man that you’ve known melt in compassion and reverence in the presence of God. Date the guy who’s not afraid to show it.  You’re lucky if you get him, for...
