Weekend full of church <3
I HAVE HOME TEACHERS! :D
I just found out who they are yesterday. I’m excited! I had a really good missionary lesson and they came (I’m kind of still transitioning into full membership. :P). They’re a couple of really relaxed guys.
Right after my lesson a bunch of us from the branch went to a YSA sports night in Indianapolis. I’m not usually a sports person but it was a good time. The only food they really had there was pizza which was a downer because I can’t eat cheese…so one of my home teachers saved my his crusts. lol. What a good home teacher… And I kicked my boyfriend’s butt playing cornhole. ;)
.
Then today was beyond amazing.
I had breakfast with my boyfriend before church. (I made pancakes.) We walked, as usual and it was gorgeous outside. I can already feel myself getting in better shape this summer from walking everywhere. (Church is about two miles away from home and it’s a mile to where I work and to the Institute building.)
Sacrament Meeting was awesome. Today was only the second time I’ve gotten to partake of the sacrament and I love it. Elders Swain and McCarrey gave talks and they were both great. Elder McCarrey talked about how to do better missionary work and after listening to him I feel more prepared for the next conversation I have with a friend I’m talking to about the church. Another branch member gave a very personal talk about a very wide range of topics. All were especially good today.
This was also my first Sunday with a joint third hour. It was fantastic! Everyone sat in the very front of the chapel and no one sat on the outside rows. I liked being that close to everyone. It felt a lot more intimate. President Decker is always hilarious. His talks are so much fun to hear. (And he talks like Paul Harvey, which I LOVE. He gave a talk the first time I came to church and I think it’s part of what got me hooked. lol) I haven’t laughed so much at church in a long time. I love when speakers are funny and engaging but still keep everything directly relevant to the gospel. It’s a gift.
After church I came home and did some math to figure out my first tithing payment. :D I was surprised. I’ve been struggling financially to get my feet on the ground so far this summer and everything really came together this week. It’s amazing. For the first time I’ve got steady work (in my field of study!), a kitchen full of food on top of rent money, and somebody to love who loves me in return. I’m a member of the true church of Jesus Christ with friends all around. When I was figuring out my tithing today I dropped to my knees and thanked the Lord with tears in my eyes because I am so blessed. In the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.
